A QUICK THOUGHT ABOUT LEARNING
You do not need to follow exactly the same rhythm as everyone else.
You may begin slowly.
You may need to pause.
You may return when life changes.
At the same time, meaningful practice needs more than good intentions.
When something matters to you, learning to make space for it can become part of the practice.

Steady Progress Over Time

About Course Two
Earthing Tai Chi Course Two continues the Foundation System by exploring how internal awareness, Qigong principles, breathing, and Tai Chi movement support one another.
While Course One emphasizes establishing a strong foundation, Course Two creates additional space for careful observation, internal connection, guided practice, and gradual understanding.
Rather than treating Qigong as a separate subject, this program presents it as part of the same learning process that supports balanced and sustainable Tai Chi practice.
Course Two welcomes continuing and returning students who wish to strengthen their understanding through experience.
Is This Program Right for Me?
Course Two may be a good fit for students who would like to:
• continue strengthening their Tai Chi foundation;
• explore the relationship between Tai Chi and Dao Yin Qigong;
• develop greater awareness of breathing, relaxation, and body connection;
• improve coordination through internal training;
• practice without the pressure of a weekly schedule;
• create a sustainable rhythm of learning throughout the warmer months;
• return to practice after time away;
• combine Course Two with another primary learning program.
No previous Qigong experience is required.
Skills are developed gradually through practical training, repeated experience, and careful observation rather than theory alone.
A FLEXIBLE RHYTHM WITH A CLEAR DIRECTION
Life does not always follow a perfect schedule.
Work changes.
Family responsibilities arise.
Travel, weather, and unexpected events can interrupt even the best intentions.
At Tao Tai Chi Studio, different learning opportunities are offered because students live different lives and move through different seasons.
Some students are ready to follow a regular weekly schedule.
Others can make time only twice each month.
Some complete an entire learning cycle.
Others need to pause and return later.
These different paths are not separate destinations.
They are different ways of staying connected to the same practice.
Tai Chi does not require everyone to move at the same speed.
But meaningful progress often depends on something more valuable than speed:
Attention
Repetition
Time
You are welcome to begin slowly.
You are welcome to pause when life requires it.
You are welcome to return.
And when you are ready, you are encouraged to make space for practice and take the next step.
There is no need to rush.
There is also value in choosing a direction and giving yourself enough time to follow it.
A flexible rhythm does not mean having no direction.
It means finding a rhythm that can realistically continue.
What You Will Experience
Throughout Course Two, students explore how Qigong principles naturally support Tai Chi practice.
Areas of study may include:
• breathing awareness;
• body alignment;
• standing practice;
• relaxation without collapsing;
• internal connection;
• movement quality;
• coordination between intention and movement;
• practical methods for independent practice.
Rather than separating internal and external training, students gradually discover how these qualities develop together through repeated experience.
What We Practice
Classes may include:
• Tai Chi movement and form practice
• Dao Yin Qigong
• standing meditation
• breathing and relaxation exercises
• balance and coordination training
• slow martial arts movement
• partner listening and awareness exercises
The material develops gradually over time while foundational principles continue to repeat naturally.
Students are encouraged to observe carefully, practice patiently, and allow understanding to develop through experience.
EXPERIENCE, PRACTICE & REVIEW
Tai Chi is not learned only by receiving new information.
Understanding often develops through returning to the same movements, noticing new details, and experiencing familiar principles in a different way.
For this reason, Course Two creates space for three connected parts of learning:
Experience
Learn through direct practice.
Practice
Return to the principles between sessions.
Review
Notice what has changed and what still needs attention.
This rhythm allows learning to develop gradually rather than being rushed toward completion.
A sustainable practice does not have to be perfect.
It simply needs enough space to continue growing.
PLAN AHEAD
Future learning cycles are announced as early as possible so students can make space for practice in their lives.
You do not need to commit to every learning opportunity at once.
However, if you know that you would like to continue, planning ahead can help you protect time for yourself before other responsibilities fill your schedule.
Some students plan for one learning cycle.
Others gradually create space for an entire season.
Both approaches can support meaningful progress.
The goal is not to fill every available hour.
The goal is to give practice a real place in your life.
Specific dates and registration information are announced before each learning cycle begins.
CONTINUE THROUGH THE SEASON
Some students are able to complete every session in a learning cycle.
Others have changing schedules and cannot always follow four consecutive Sunday sessions.
The Additional Practice Pass provides another way to remain connected throughout the Course Two Learning Season.
You do not need to follow exactly the same rhythm as everyone else.
At the same time, meaningful progress rarely comes from waiting for the perfect time.
By choosing several opportunities throughout the season, students can continue practicing, reflecting, returning, and gradually discovering what a more regular relationship with Tai Chi may offer.
Flexibility works best when it supports a clear and sustainable learning rhythm.
CONTINUING YOUR FOUNDATION JOURNEY

Each program offers a different learning rhythm while contributing to the same long-term Foundation System.
Each program offers a different learning rhythm while contributing to the same long-term Foundation System.
There is no single required path.
Some students prefer a regular weekly schedule.
Others combine structured learning with seasonal practice.
Some study privately.
Others return to group practice whenever the timing is right.
Different rhythms can support the same long-term goal:
To build a steady and meaningful relationship with Tai Chi.
Part of the Foundation System
The Foundation Programs are designed for students who wish to build a steady relationship with Tai Chi through consistent practice, careful observation, and gradual understanding.
Rather than emphasizing speed or the accumulation of techniques, these programs encourage students to develop qualities that can continue supporting their practice over many years.
For some students, these courses provide a beginning.
For others, they become a place to return again and again as their understanding continues to grow.
Learning does not always happen in a straight line.
Sometimes progress comes through regular practice.
Sometimes it comes through rest and reflection.
Sometimes it comes from returning after time away and discovering something new in a movement you thought you already understood.
For this reason, Tao Tai Chi Studio offers different opportunities to begin, continue, pause, return, and deepen.
These opportunities are not designed to make learning more complicated.
They are designed to make a long-term practice more possible.
You do not have to begin with a perfect plan.
But when you begin to recognize what matters to you, you are encouraged to make room for it.
A few carefully protected hours each month can become a meaningful practice over time.
Small commitments can grow.
Regular practice can deepen.
And a simple interest can gradually become part of the way you live.
Questions?
If Course Two does not match your current schedule, or if you would prefer to explore Tai Chi and Qigong through another learning rhythm, I am happy to discuss the options with you.
Other possibilities may include:
• another Foundation Program;
• Sunday Weekly Practice;
• private Tai Chi training;
• individualized Qigong practice;
• returning to group practice at a later time.
Every student’s learning journey is different.
I am always glad to help you consider which next step may best support your current situation and longer-term goals.
Studio Clothing
Some students choose to wear the studio’s Tai Chi training clothing during practice.
This is entirely optional.
The intention is simply to support comfort, movement, and a shared training atmosphere.
Details are available upon request.

A FINAL THOUGHT
There is no need to rush.
There is also no need to wait forever.
Begin where you are.
Choose a rhythm that fits your life.
Make space when you are ready.
Return when life changes.
And continue, one step at a time.
The goal is not to finish Tai Chi quickly.
The goal is to build a relationship with practice that can continue growing with you.
