Private Tai Chi Training
A quiet, personal beginning
New Paltz, New York
Private training offers a calm and individualized way to begin.
Each session follows your pace, your questions,
and the natural rhythm of your body.
There is no requirement for experience, flexibility,
or previous knowledge.
You may arrive exactly as you are.
Some students come once in a while.
Some build a foundation over several weeks.
Some continue over a longer period of time.
Each approach is valid.
Each reflects a different moment in life.
The Setting
Training takes place in a quiet environment,
away from the pace and noise of busy areas.
This allows:
• clearer attention to the body
• a more settled state of mind
• space to notice small changes over time
The environment is simple,
so that the practice itself can come forward.
How Private Training Works
• begin with one session or a short series
• build a foundation step by step
• continue at a comfortable rhythm
• move into group practice if and when it feels appropriate
There is no fixed pace to follow.
Ways to Begin
Three simple options, depending on the rhythm that feels right for you.
Six Sessions · $400
A complete foundational cycle.
Most students complete the series within three months.
A steady path for those who are ready
to build a long‑term practice.
Three Sessions · $300
A shorter beginning for those who prefer to enter gradually.
Complete within 6–8 weeks.
If the rhythm feels right afterward,
the series may naturally continue into six sessions
with three additional classes for $100.
This structure supports consistency without pressure.
One Session · $150
A simple private introduction.
Best for visitors, curious beginners,
or those with changing schedules
who would like to experience Tai Chi personally
before deciding anything further.
Each session is one hour.
What You Will Learn
A foundation that adapts to your body, your rhythm, and your intention
Every student arrives with a different body, background, and pace of learning.
For this reason, private training does not follow a fixed sequence.
Instead, it offers a flexible structure that responds to what is needed.
Some explore broadly.
Some focus more narrowly at the beginning.
The process is gradual.
What You Will Explore
• posture and alignment
• qigong principles & natural breathing
• simple Tai Chi movements
• balance and coordination
• awareness of tension and release
• foundational Tai Chi principles
Sessions build gradually.
The goal is not to perform,
but to develop awareness, steadiness,
and a sustainable relationship with practice.
A Steady Rhythm
Tai Chi is learned slowly,
not through force,
but through repetition, attention,
and returning over time.
Some students practice every week.
Others move more gradually.
Both approaches can work well.
The important thing is finding a rhythm
that can naturally fit into your life.
Private training is often
chosen by people who:
• prefer a quieter learning environment
• have changing schedules
• want personal guidance while building confidence
• are exploring how Tai Chi may support long‑term well‑being
Some students continue with private sessions over time.
Others eventually join a small group program,
or combine both forms of practice.
There is no single correct path.
Finding a Comfortable Rhythm
Life moves in seasons.
Work changes.
Family responsibilities shift.
Energy rises and falls.
For this reason, scheduling at Tao Tai Chi Studio
is handled through communication, planning,
and flexibility on both sides.
Students are encouraged to plan sessions thoughtfully
and stay connected about scheduling changes whenever possible.
When advance notice is given,
it becomes much easier to keep the studio rhythm flowing smoothly.
The goal is not perfection.
The goal is learning how to practice steadily, realistically,
and with mutual respect for time and energy.

How to Begin
People begin in different ways.
Some prefer a quiet email conversation.
Others find it helpful to speak briefly online.
After reading this page,
you are welcome to fill out the consultation form
and share a little about:
• your interest in Tai Chi
• your schedule
• what kind of learning experience you are looking for
From there,
we can continue naturally through email,
or arrange a short online conversation if helpful.
There is no pressure to decide quickly.
The purpose is simply to find a starting rhythm
that feels comfortable and sustainable for you.

Another Way
to Begin
Some students choose to begin in a small group.
This may suit those who:
• have a consistent weekly schedule
• appreciate a shared learning environment
• prefer a structured progression
The Beginner Small Group Program includes:
• 2 to 6 students
• 9 hours of guided training
• a steady weekly rhythm
Tuition typically ranges from $300 to $360.
