Your First Visit
A simple beginning
New Paltz, New York
Starting something new can feel uncertain.
This page offers a gentle sense of what your first visit may be like.
There is nothing you need to prepare in a special way.
You are welcome to arrive exactly as you are.
Before You Come
There is no requirement for experience, flexibility, or prior knowledge.
Comfortable clothing is enough.
You do not need to understand Tai Chi in advance.
The practice begins with simple steps,
and your body will learn at its own rhythm.
Most new students prefer practicing indoors,
where the space feels private, quiet, and protected.
This is where the majority of sessions take place.
When the weather is pleasant and the group feels comfortable,
some team classes may move to the garden for gentle Earthing Tai Chi.
The garden sits near a wetland,
where the plants are abundant and the air carries a natural softness.
It is peaceful, but not isolated.
From time to time, someone may walk by the path nearby.
This light movement in the environment
is a natural reminder of what Tai Chi teaches:
how to stay centered even when the world around us shifts.
Outdoor practice is always optional.
If you prefer indoor sessions,
that preference is fully respected.
On very hot days,
practice returns indoors to the cool, quiet studio room.
In cooler seasons,
sessions are held indoors as well.
Both spaces offer a natural sense of ease.
After the Session
At the end, there is no pressure to continue. You may: • reflect quietly • ask questions • return when the timing feels right • begin a short series • or join a small group later All options are open. Your path unfolds naturally.
A Natural Continuation
Some students return for another private session. Some begin a three‑session foundation. Some continue for six sessions. Some join a small group when they feel ready. Some combine private and group practice. Some take time before deciding. Each path is valid. Each rhythm is respected.
